On September 7, 1753, at 1 p.m., loud detonations and a whistling sound were heard over an area of about thirty kilometers near Vonnas in the heart of Bresse in France. Several fragments of the Luponnas meteorite (14 kg in total), a chondrite, were found in the following days.
