The strewnfield of the meteorite Dhofar 007 was discovered in 1999 by a team of Russian meteorite hunters. It measures 6.5 by 3 kilometers.

The first expedition in this sector gave 37 specimens for a total weight of 21.27 kg. Many other stones were found subsequently, often by the same team.

Note that the GPS coordinates given in the Meteoritical Bulletin are not precisely those of the finds. The precise location is known only to a few people.

The meteorite was ejected from its parent body (4 Vesta certainly) 12 to 15 million years ago. It is estimated that the meteorite fell on Earth about 70 000 years ago.
