This was a really cool meteorite and tourism trip. We landed at Los Angeles then we headed to several famous meteorite strewnfields such as Gold Basin, Holbrook and Franconia. We didn’t find any meteorite despite the fact of having a metal detector but we had good time.
Then we visited several National Parks : Grand Canyon, Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce Canyon.
We spent a night in Las Vegas and I was lucky to win 1,500$ !
After that cool stop, we headed to Death Valley where we stayed for 3 days. The first day, we wanted to go to the Racetrack Playa where stones are moving when the ground is icy. Unfortunately, we broke a shock absorber on our Jeep and we had to leave the car on the track… We were lucky enough to meet a tourist who brought us to Scotty’s Castle. Then we called the rental company who sent us a tow truck with a new Jeep. Luckily, the driver was cool enough and wrote that we broke the car on a paved road. Our rental contract indicated that we couldn’t use tracks, even with a 4WD car… So we had nothing more to pay for the repair.
After this adventure, we headed to Sequoia Park then again to Los Angeles for the end of our trip.
